The Summer jazz camp has a history dating back to 1975.
It has been run yearly up till present, except between 1986 – 1989.
Between 1989 and 2009 it has mainly been run by Norwegian jazzmusicians in
co-opration with the Norw. Jazz federation.
In 2009 it was overtaken by “Sommerkursene.no”, a loosely organized small group of
musicians.
Financially supported by several sources: the Norw. Jazzfederation, The Norw. Academy of Music in Oslo,
The Jazzfederation of Southern Norway, Musicians Union, several organisations supporting musical activities for
young, aspiring musicians etc.
The teachers are alway superb musicians with teaching experience from all levels.
Mostly Norwegians, but also from elsewhere: Denmark, Sweden, England, Germany and the US.

The age of participants range from aprox. 17 to 75. And consists of aspiring young musicians, semi-professionals, professionals, and amateurs just wanting to have fun and play and learn more about their favourite music.
